Do What You Love, Love What You Do | March 1, 2020 | Rev. Jeffrey Dodson

The search for good news can be the search for soul healing truth. The good news that satisfies is that which makes you whole. This is what Lent is all about; discovering the good news in our lives.

Enchanted Transfiguration | February 23, 2020 | Rev. Jeffrey Dodson         Transfiguration Sunday

Transfiguration: that which shows a different state of spiritual being or understanding. It is a revealing. Sometimes the places where transfiguration takes place can be hard to get to; both physically and mentally. Yet, when we go to those hard places, we discover transformation. We are challenged to be something greater. Seek out those hard places and transform yourself.

Revelation 21:1-7

Choose God's Blessing | February 16, 2020 | Rev. Jeffrey Dodson             6th Sunday after Epiphany

What can we do in our own lives to embrace God’s warm invitation to choose life--especially when we find ourselves covered in the snowy blanket of winter? What “life” is planted in you like seeds beneath the frozen ground?

Dangerous Love | February 9, 2020 | Rev. Dr. Karl Kuhn, Lakeland College             5th Sunday after Epiphany

The book of Revelation presents a very strange world. It has inspired many strange interpretations. Much of the strangeness stems from the era. It is resistance literature for believers. You can only serve one master. Where does your allegiance lie?

Revelation 3:14-22

#blessed | February 2, 2020 | Rev. Jeffrey Dodson                4th Sunday after Epiphany

#blessed...Jesus' 8 blessings from the Sermon on the Mount. This simple passage is echoed in Luke as the Beatitudes. How many of us have our faith shaken each time we hear of national and world events? Jesus said...blessed are you who worry greatly about the state of the world. Turn to God to be comforted and blessed.

Set Down Your Nets | January 26, 2020 | Rev. Jeffrey Dodson                3rd Sunday after Epiphany

At the time Jesus went to the Sea of Galilee, he tells the fishermen, "set down your nets and follow me". Fish were scarce so they were probably poor; yet they go with him.

When Jesus invites us to set down our nets, he is inviting us to envision a way of living in better relationships with one another.

Matthew 4:12-23

Mary's Lamb | January 19, 2020 | Rev. Jeffrey Dodson                2nd Sunday after Epiphany

Almost everyone knows the children's song "Mary Had a Little Lamb". It is about the lamb not leaving because of it's love for Mary. Love Matters. 1st John says, "...whoever doesn't love doesn't know God, for God is love."  God's love follows us around like a little lamb.

How has God's love followed you?

1 Corinthians 1:1-9

Hope Floats | January 12, 2020 | Rev. Jeffrey Dodson                1st Sunday after Epiphany

We are to be a light upon a hill. A bright, shining light of hope. Even a simple candle flame can give us hope. God offered Jesus in a simple fashion; a baby to bring us hope.

Scripture:

Isaiah 42:1-9

Matthew 3:13-17

Hope Rises Also | January 5, 2020 | Rev. Jeffrey Dodson                Epiphany

Epiphany means to show up. A revealing. When the Magi bowed before Jesus, they were showing their hope of the promised one. How can we show hope in today's world?

Scripture:

Isaiah 60:1-12

Matthew 2:1-12
